Dear Friend,
Please help! Your quick action
today could help prevent a child from being abused.
We
have a great opportunity in Massachusetts to pass
new child protection laws. More than
35 MA legislators have
endorsed a
comprehensive bill to strengthen Massachusetts
laws against sexual crimes against children.
This new legislation eliminates civil statutes that
prevent victims from obtaining justice and that
protect institutions that facilitate child abuse.
Here’s what you can do:
Write a short note to your state representative and
state senator. (You can call and e-mail them, too.)
All the information you need is available at
www.corsal.org.
It’s easy to find their contact info. Just go to
www.corsal.org
and click on:
Find your legislator. Then fax,
mail, or e-mail your letter to your elected
officials.
Please ask
your legislators to support the
Comprehensive
Protection from Childhood Sexual Abuse Act of 2007.
Will you make a difference? Yes! If you
write just one short letter (four sentences), you’ll
make a difference. One state rep. said, “One letter
gets noticed. And five letters is like an
avalanche!”
What’s our deadline?
We need to act
immediately.
In
2006, we made great progress by extending the time
period during which perpetrators can be criminally
prosecuted for sexual crimes against children.
Now we need to go further by eliminating all
statutes that keep courthouse doors closed to
victims and allow both perpetrators and the
institutions that harbor them to evade
responsibility for proven crimes.
